Match Reports 3rd October 2026
It was another busy weekend for Clwb Hoci Eirias, with plenty of goals, strong performances and valuable league points across the club. The Women’s section remained unbeaten, with the Women’s 1s maintaining their position at the top of the table and the Women’s 3s producing a dominant away display at Buckley. There were mixed fortunes for the men, but performances throughout the teams demonstrated resilience, team spirit and determination. Across the club there were standout individual displays, impressive defensive efforts and some excellent attacking hockey, providing plenty of positive momentum as we move deeper into the season.
Men’s Hockey
Results did not entirely reflect the effort shown by the men’s teams this weekend. The Men’s 1s were beaten 3-1 by Stockport Bramhall despite taking the lead through Ash Wills and competing well for large periods against a strong side. The Men’s 2s suffered a difficult start against University of Liverpool but showed tremendous character to regroup, producing an outstanding second-half defensive performance despite having only 11 players available. The highlight of the weekend came from the Men’s 3s, who secured an excellent 5-2 victory over Bebington. After trailing at half-time, the side responded superbly with five second-half goals, overturning previous disappointments against the same opposition and delivering an emphatic team performance backed by outstanding support from across the club.
Women’s Hockey
The Women’s section enjoyed another positive weekend, collecting seven points from a possible nine. The Women’s 1s battled to a 1-1 draw away at Fylde, creating numerous opportunities and remaining top of the table despite feeling unfortunate not to take all three points. The Women’s 2s were edged out 2-1 by Triton after a closely fought encounter in which they defended resolutely and pushed hard for an equaliser until the final whistle. Meanwhile, the Women’s 3s produced one of their best performances of the season, coming from behind to defeat Buckley 4-1. Goals, controlled possession and a dominant second-half display ensured a deserved victory and continued their strong start to the campaign.
