March Report 26th September 2026

Another brilliant weekend for Clwb Hoci Eirias saw goals, close contests, league debuts and encouraging performances across the club. The Women's 1s celebrated their first Division 1 home fixture with an impressive 5-1 victory, while the Men's 1s battled to a hard-earned draw away at Chester. There were narrow defeats for several sides, but plenty of positives, with strong performances, growing confidence and excellent commitment evident from juniors through to senior teams.

Women's Teams

The Women's 1s produced an outstanding attacking display to defeat Clitheroe Blackburn 5-1, overturning an early deficit with goals from Ali, Tam and a Dal-inspired masterclass. New goalkeeper Leanne Chapman starred on her home debut, making a series of crucial saves to secure a memorable victory. The Women's 2s were beaten 3-1 away at Northop Hall despite Rachel's well-taken equaliser and a determined effort throughout. Meanwhile, the Women's 3s pushed promotion-chasing Ruthin all the way in an excellent performance. Lexi's penalty corner strike drew Eirias level before Ruthin snatched a late winner, with Carly earning Player of the Match after a superb display of determination and leadership.

Men's Teams

The Men's 1s returned from Chester with a deserved point after a hard-fought 1-1 draw. Alex's powerful drag flick put Eirias ahead, and despite Chester's second-half equaliser, the visitors showed resilience to secure the result. The Men's 2s were beaten 4-2 away to Wrexham in a challenging afternoon, while the combined Men's 3s and 4s delivered one of the performances of the weekend. Facing Denbigh Development, they recovered from a difficult start to dominate large spells of the game before eventually falling 2-1, with Zach grabbing the goal. Particularly pleasing was the league debut of youngsters Oscar, Micah and Kristian, all of whom impressed throughout.

Under 16 Tournament

The club's Under 16s got their season underway with a hugely encouraging set of performances. The girls overcame a slow start against Northop Hall before finding their rhythm and producing an excellent display to record a 5-3 victory. The boys joined forces with Dysynni due to player availability and competed strongly in a mini tournament, narrowly losing 1-0 to Northop Hall before bouncing back to secure a 1-0 victory over Denbigh. With several players experiencing higher-level hockey and new combinations developing, it was an excellent start to the junior season and a promising sign of what lies ahead.
