Match Reports 14th March 2024
It was another full and fiercely competitive weekend for Clwb Hoci Eirias, with teams across the club facing tough opposition, league leaders, and local rivals. While results were mixed, there were strong performances, standout individual displays, and plenty of encouragement as the season continues to build momentum.
Women’s 1
Bowdon Women’s 3 4–0 Clwb Hoci Eirias Women’s 1
Eirias Women’s 1 travelled to league leaders Bowdon for a top‑of‑the‑table clash in blazing sunshine and high spirits. A strong opening was undone by a series of short corners, with Bowdon capitalising clinically to take a 4–0 lead into half time. A determined and disciplined second‑half performance saw Eirias tighten defensively, create chances of their own, and keep Bowdon scoreless after the break. Player of the Match went to Kira for an outstanding performance in goal — despite (or perhaps because of) a pre‑match Burger King detour, which also earned her the team “turkey”.

Clwb Hoci Eirias Women’s 2 2–1 Runcorn Women’s 1
Back at home after two away fixtures, the Women’s 2s made the most of familiar surroundings with a hard‑fought win over Runcorn. After a tight first half, Eirias dominated the second period, with excellent link‑up play through the middle unlocking the defence. Catrin struck twice — first with a composed finish across the keeper, then reacting quickest after a penalty corner rebound. Runcorn pulled one back late from a well‑taken corner, but Eirias held firm to secure another valuable victory.

Women’s 3
Chester Women’s 4 0–0 Clwb Hoci Eirias Women’s 3
The Eirias Dev team returned to action with a well‑earned point away at Chester in an entertaining goalless draw. Chester started strongly, forcing early pressure and a string of short corners, all dealt with superbly by a resilient Eirias defence. As the game settled, Eirias grew in confidence, countering effectively and creating chances of their own, though neither side could find the breakthrough. A disciplined, fit, and organised performance saw Eirias finish strongly and earn praise from the hosts.

A dominant and disciplined performance from the Men’s 3s saw them claim a deserved 2–0 victory at Rydal. Rock‑solid defending, tireless midfield work, and relentless pressure paid off with goals from Tom S in the first half and Finn S after the break. The scoreline could have been more, but a commanding all‑round team display ensured a thoroughly earned win.

Men’s 4
Clwb Hoci Eirias Men’s 4 0–1 Bebington Men’s 3
Despite the narrow defeat, this was one of the Men’s 4s’ strongest performances of the season against league‑leading Bebington. After conceding against the run of play late in the first half, Eirias responded with intensity, pressing high, moving the ball at pace, and creating sustained pressure and multiple short corners. The collective effort, composure, and development on show were outstanding — even earning post‑match praise from the opposition captain.
